Play & Stay is basically the ITF adaptation of Mini Tennis which the LTA brought into being approx 10 years ago.
We believe that under pressure from other ball brands the ITF also accepted the use of the smaller superceded balls.(A retrograde backward step).
At the Queens Club the ball industry were given a presentation by the LTA. We were told that a bigger, lighter, softer, slower ball was required to start children as early as possible into tennis in an attempt to stop the continuing and rapid decline of tennis.
Because of the uncertainty of reasonable sales volume the other brands showed NO interest.
D Price being the only one prepared to invest time and money in the ball development after being asked by the now frustrated LTA.
Balls under development were supplied to the LTA, who over the months tested and retested balls , asking for various changes to ball and performance. Finally the finished product !

Tennis ball facts:
1. Balls used to be bigger, these days made practically to the smallest size allowed 2. Much harder than they used to be. 3. Tennis declined approximately 35% during the past 25 years.
Balls for introducing juniors into tennis started out 65mm diameter, then a larger ball at 70mm was used for a while, and after comprehensive development and testing the Lawn Tennis Association developed
preferred size became the 75mm Red Mini Tennis ball
Although since the ITF have became interested the ITF have taken a retrograde step back by allowing the out dated and superceded smaller balls to be used. (Under pressure from other ball suppliers we believe.)
